How do we track an aircraft in real time anywhere around the world?

An Indigo One tracking unit, very kindly provided by IndigoSat, is installed in the aircraft.

The tracking unit receives signals from the network of GPS satellites orbiting the Earth and calculates the aircraft's location, speed, altitude and heading, much like the GPS units many of us have in our cars.

Every few minutes the tracking unit sends the latest data, via the Inmarsat satellite network, to the IndigoSat server.

The IndigoSat server then uses the Internet to forward that data to the Xenon Consulting mapping system server, located in Cape Town, South Africa.

Xenon's proprietary mapping software then processes the raw data and overlays it on a Google Earth image, along with the historical track data, and makes that available on the Web for you to see.

If you'd like more information on our system please feel free to contact us.
